Winter
In winter, the valley turns into a paradise for ski and snowboard lovers.
The ski slopes are 150 kilometres long, with an altitude difference
of 1,800 m between the world’s highest revolving restaurant and
the village!
Blue, red, black, and yellow runs are located at altitudes ranging from 3,600 to 1,500 metres above sea level, ensuring an exceptional skiing experience.

Cross-country skiing, hikes, snowshoeing
The area offers many interesting trails for hikes using cross-country skis and snowshoes. Examples include trips to the Fee Glacier from the Längfluh mountain station (also in summer) and Trift, as well as the Foxtrail. The network of winter hiking trails covers as much as 60 km of the snow-covered Saas Valley landscape. Perfectly prepared cross-country trails, available from mid-December to the end of March, lead through snow-covered larch forests and along the Vispa river. If there is enough snow, 23 km of classic and skating trails are available.

Ice hockey, ice skating, curling. Four ice rinks are available to visitors across four villages in the Valley. You can play curling in Saas-Fee. Ice skating is available in Saas-Fee, Saas-Almagell, and Saas-Balen, whilst Saas-Grund offers skating lessons for children and teenagers.
Toboggan runs
Downhill runs for tobogganing enthusiasts are available in Saas-Grund, Saas-Fee, and Saas-Almagell. This is true both during the day and in the evening, when the route is lit only by headtorches and moonlight. An unforgettable experience! The run in Saas-Grund is 11 kilometres long, and during the ride, you can admire spectacular views of the Mischabel massif and the Mattmark region. In Saas-Fee, the 6-kilometre run starts at the top station of the Hannigbahn cable car and leads via the so-called “Sonnenberg” to the glacier village. The Saas-Almagell route runs from Furggstalden for 3 kilometres. Toboggans can be hired and taken onto the cable cars in all three locations.
Après-Ski
After a successful day on the slopes, this is an absolute must! All the villages in the valley offer après-ski bars to end the day. The largest selection can be found in Saas-Fee. All villages also offer restaurants featuring traditional Swiss dishes and much more!

The Saas Valley region is a true paradise for mountain sports lovers. A vast number of trails, 18 majestic four-thousand-metre peaks, and numerous SAC mountain huts offer the chance to spend time actively – from high-alpine excursions to gorges and via ferratas, through to bouldering and a rope park. It is a place where every mountain adventure enthusiast will find something for themselves.

The natural world
From mid-April, marmots awaken to life! At Spielboden or in the Stafelwald, you can meet these tame and friendly animals all summer long. With a bit of luck, marmots can be hand-fed with carrots or nuts. On the mountain trails, you can also spot chamois, Alpine ibex, hares, foxes, and a wide variety of birds.
Saastal Cards & Magic Pass
A tourist tax (Kurtaxe) must be paid for each person staying in the region. The fees are:
- CHF 7.00 / person / night in summer (01.06 – 31.10.) CHF
- 4.50 / person / night in winter (01.11. – 31.05.)
- children aged 6-16 – half price Children under 6 – free of charge.
Upon payment of the fee, a Saastalcard is issued, providing a range of benefits:
- free PostBus travel in the Saas Valley
- discount on parking in Saas-Fee In summer,
- certain cable cars are free of charge (Saas-Fee, Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell).

The Magic Pass provides access to 2,000 km of ski slopes, 2 glaciers, 20 snowparks, 2 revolving restaurants, 1,000 km of mountain biking trails, hiking routes, family spots, thermal baths, and breathtaking panoramas. The Magic Pass offers free and unlimited access to almost 100 mountain railways in winter and summer!
Saas-Fee and Saas-Almagell are covered by the Magic Pass in the summer season (excluding summer skiing and the Metro Alpin) and in the winter season.
The card is valid from 1 May to 30 April of the following year.
